前田珈琲 明倫店Meirin Maeda Coffee

前田珈琲明倫店Meirin Maeda Coffee is in the Kyoto Art Center, which was formerly an elementary school, on 室町通Muromachi Street south of 蛸薬師通Takoyakushi Street; it’s not too far away from 前田珈琲 本店Maeda Coffee Honten.

the hallway where one can find the entrance to Meirin Maeda Coffee which is where the former staff room for the school must have been

This part of the room reminds me the most of an elementary school.

goods for purchasing to take home near the entrance

I chose a seat in the center back which gave me a great view of the whole place (it also seemed like the most comfy seat in the house)…the retro interior is 昭和時代Showa Period-style.

I really wanted the 昔ながらのフレンチトーストmukashi-nagara no Furenchi toosuto (traditional French toast) but they were out of the bread that they used for it, so I got the フレンチトーストFurenchi toosuto (French toast), ¥850. I asked for no whipped cream which means that it won’t be as fancy as usual; what I got looked fancy enough for me, though.☺ For an extra ¥200, I got a ホットカフェラッテhotto kafe ratte (hot caffè latte) with my French toast.

?????????

I was very pleased with my order…the caffè latte was as good as I’d expected and the French toast was delightful being crisp on the outside with plenty of egg but a bit chewy inside. I’ll be back to have the French toast again (either one will be fine).☺
